Our Letter Asking To Keep Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull Out Of Canada

The Canadian Anti-Hate Network sent the following letter to Minister Marco Mendicino and other members of Parliament.

March 17, 2023

We are writing to bring your attention to an anti-transgender activist from the UK who may be coming to spread their hate on tour in Canada in May.

Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull, who also goes by the name Posie Parker, has announced plans to visit Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, and Ottawa.

We believe that Ms. Keen-Minshull has contravened s. 319(2), the wilful promotion of hatred, by:

  • advocating for the forced sterilization of trans persons;
  • inciting violence against trans women by encouraging armed men to remove trans women from gender inclusive spaces;
  • referring to transgender parents as abusers; and
  • repeatedly referring to transgender persons as predators

Ms. Keen-Minshull is currently under investigation by the Sussex, UK police for alleged hate crimes and has a history of collaborating with far-right and white nationalist figures and organizations. Her recent appearance in Australia drew a crowd of black-clad, sieg-heiling neo-Nazis with a banner calling for the extermination of transgender persons: “Destroy Paedo Freaks.”

In light of the Prime Minister’s recent remarks committing to stand up to transphobic hatred, we feel that Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull should not be permitted entry to Canada. If she does enter, we expect protests and counter-protest to occur and for an escalation in the environment of hatred towards transgender persons and the broader 2SLGBTQ+ community.

Given her history, we believe that Ms. Keen-Minshull will try to enter the country with illegal materials either in paper or on her devices, specifically those in contravention of s. 319(2) - the wilful promotion of hatred. We believe there are sufficient grounds to deny her entry.

Can you help us keep this hateful anti-trans activist out of Canada?
