Pro-Trump Candidate With A History of “Unacceptable Behaviour” Running in Federal Election

Lisa Robinson has had her pay suspended multiple times for her “unacceptable behaviour” as a Pickering city councillor. Now, she’s looking to win a federal seat in the upcoming election with the People’s Party of Canada.

A controversial city councillor is hoping to be the Member of Parliament for the People’s Party of Canada in Pickering-Brooklin.

Lisa Robinson has repeatedly made headlines over the last several years. In 2021, she was ousted as a federal candidate for the Conservative Party for allegedly publishing Islamophobic posts, which she said at the time were faked. More recently, she’s made waves for her behaviour during her current term as a Pickering city councillor.

In a video posted to her social media announcing her candidacy on April 7, Robinson appeared with Maxime Bernier, where she railed against DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) and the right to use public bathrooms that match a person’s gender identity. Speaking about the Conservative Party, Robinson said, “They're no better than the Liberals. And they don't share our Western values that we have here in Canada.”

In her post to social media Robinson said, “I’m the only true conservative in this race,” and called the CPC candidate, Alicia Vianga, a “fake conservative.”

Robinson rejects the label of far-right, and instead says she is a “hardcore conservative.”

The Canadian Anti-Hate Network has emailed Robinson for comment and did not receive a response by time of publication.

Councillor Robinson’s pay has been suspended multiple times in the last two years. In September 2024, the Integrity Commissioner found that Robinson had demonstrated a pattern of “unacceptable behaviour,” putting marginalized community members at risk. She has previously had her pay suspended for statements toward the 2SLGBTQ+ community. In October 2023, the Integrity Commissioner found that she had "promoted attitudes which are homophobic and transphobic.”

Robinson has denied these allegations.

In September 2024, Robinson came under fire for her participation in an Ottawa rally that featured multiple individuals wearing t-shirts emblazoned with swastikas. In defence, Robinson posted to her social media an image of a swastika tattoo, calling it an “ancient symbol originating from Indian culture” and that the outcry was “a gross distortion of the truth but also a disgusting act of misinformation.” She said that the outcry itself “should be considered a hate crime.”

In July of last year, Robinson appeared on a livestream with Kevin J. Johnston, a far-right content creator who fled Canada for Panama after receiving numerous large cost judgments against him for defamation and harassment. Johnston, who repeatedly calls the Pickering town council members pedophiles in the podcast, encouraged his audience to harass Pickering Mayor Kevin Ashe, as well as Robinson’s fellow councillors.

After removing Robinson from the stream temporarily, Johnston shared the other councillors’ contact information on screen saying, “All of you, phone these people! Fill their voicemails up, harass them, needle them, talk to them, scream at them.”

Johnston later encouraged people to go to the councillors’ homes to harass them and sue them until they are bankrupt, while Robinson is visible on screen smiling and nodding. He also called the other council members “pervert pedophile losers” and said a violent dog should be let loose and they should be removed by force.

On August 8, Robinson released a video statement to her social media addressing the controversy surrounding the appearance and the complaints of the other council members, saying, “I do not condone anything that Mr. Johnston said in a hateful manner, or that advocates violence against any of my fellow councillors.

“I want to make it perfectly clear that I reject and disassociate myself from any such rhetoric.”

16 minutes earlier, Robinson shared a video from Kevin Johnston titled “Public Statement About Pickering Pedo Mayor.”

Later that day, Robinson again appeared on Kevin Johnston’s podcast. In his introduction, Johnston said, “[Mayor Ashe] helps, uh, pedophiles get naked in front of your children.” Moments later, Robinson joins the livestream. Johnston says, “We knew you were going la la la,” putting his fingers in his ears. Robinson laughs, and says “la la la” while holding her ears.

At the time, Robinson defended her actions on the podcast, saying, “I don’t need to sit there and critique someone else’s opinion.”

In December 2024, Pickering mayor Kevin Ashe released a statement and video declaring that they made the decision to move all council meetings online “to protect the safety, security, and well-being of Council, Staff, and residents” following a barrage of alleged threats.

The video posted by the City of Pickering Youtube account contains audio clips of threats and harassment received by city staff and councillors, as well as clips from Robinson’s appearances on Johnston’s podcast.

In February 2025, Mayor Ashe and Pickering’s Chief Administrative Officer issued a joint statement that staff will not attend meetings on March 3 or 24 due to Councillor Robinson’s “ongoing, disruptive, and harassing behaviour towards City staff.”

Making Canada Great Again

Robinson has been a vocal supporter of United States president Donald Trump. In March she also posted in support of Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to her social media accounts, “In Pickering, we’ve seen firsthand how inefficiency and self-serving policies hurt taxpayers. A DOGE could hold governments accountable and cut through the red tape.”

In February, Robinson posted a long list of Trump’s executive orders with heart emojis beside each, including orders removing all mention of gender identities from the federal government and declaring that the United States government only recognizes male and female genders, establishing DOGE, removing public funding from gender-affirming care for minors, prohibiting transgender women from participating in sports, removing all gender-inclusive education from schools, and more.

“What we’re seeing in the U.S. under President Trump is exactly the kind of leadership we need here,” Robinson wrote, and included a picture of herself in a Make Canada Great Again hat.

Also in February, Robinson posted to her social media, “Trump’s executive order to protect women’s sports is a victory for fairness and common sense. Women and girls should never have to compete against biological males, lose out on scholarships, or risk their safety in contact sports.” In January, she posted, “My fellow Canadians, it's time for a new era of common sense! Let's take a cue from our neighbours to the south. Do you believe in the truth that there are only two genders - male and female? Let's stand up for biological reality and protect the foundations of our society.”
