Canadian Anti-Hate Network
Caryma Sa’d has been asked to stop interacting with members of our organization because of her unprofessional conduct. Instead of posting the actual letter from CAHN’s lawyer, Caryma Sa’d doctored it to remove most of the evidence of her misconduct that justified the letter.
The letter from our lawyer references findings by a Law Society of Ontario investigator that Caryma Sa’d engaged in anti-Jewish harassment and/or discriminatory conduct against Bernie Farber, CAHN’s Chair Emeritus. In going to Bernie’s home and then posting videos about it, the Law Society investigator found that Caryma Sa’d had:
- failed to act with honour and integrity
- engaged in harassing, and/or discriminatory conduct
- engaged in conduct that tends to bring discredit upon the legal profession.
This is the letter from the Law Society of Ontario investigator.
Ms. Sa'd's complaints against us have failed in court. We have nothing to say to this individual and in our opinion her years-long conduct is unprofessional to the standards that lawyers are supposed to uphold.
We also believe that Ms. Sa’d is not a journalist and is not acting in any journalistic public interest.
Caryma Sa'd's relationship, whether providing advice, favourable narrative, or otherwise, with a far-right and hate promoting movement like Diagolon - and being thanked by said group - further establishes our opinion that this individual’s conduct towards us is simply malicious.
We understand her animus against CAHN stems from dissatisfaction with a 2021 article, for which we contacted Ms. Sa'd for comment. After the article was published we discussed the matter with Ms. Sa’d, listened to and considered her concerns, and added new comments as a result. Ms. Sa'd had issued veiled threats of a lawsuit, but did not pursue it.
We believe that Ms. Sa'd's recent behaviour, having followed a journalist to their partner's live music performance, secretly filming them in the crowd, and confronting them after, speaks volumes. Our support goes out to Rachel Gilmore.
We believe the evidence above demonstrates a pattern of harassment that we will not countenance which brings us to our recent decision to retain a lawyer to put it on the record that we want no contact with Ms. Sa’d. That letter, in its entirety, speaks for itself.
